If you are like me, shopping for Amazon Kindle Readers can be a bit daunting. Let me same you time and give you my honest reviews and comparisons to save you time. Because if you are like me, you want to feel confident that you are buying the best model to suit your needs!Amazon Kindle Readers

There are so many specifications, features, item versions and models.

It can truly be called an art to analyze, compare and decide on what reader you want to get.

In my experience, the right choice can make or break your reading experience.

Below are the main features of each model I will be reviewing.

=> If you would like to skip my overview, feel free to scroll down and see my review of each model.

Also be sure to check out my recommended Financial Success Books for your library that I have listed near the end of this article. Having a Kindle Reader has helped me read my financial books so much faster!

How this Review Will Help You And Save You Time: What I Will Be Covering.

There are numerous factors to consider when buying your Kindle Reader! All of them are certainly important and lengthy to go through! That’s why I have created a list of the best models outlining their features and how each one can serve your needs best.

  • Reader Size (Screen & Width)

Ask anyone if they would rather have a pocket book vs. a paperback book, and most of them will tell you, “It depends.”

Different preferences and circumstances demand different sizes. If you want something slim with a smaller screen for when you are on go, there are models for that!

If you want something with a large screen, maybe something wider and feels more bulky, there are Amazon Kindle Readers with these kinds of specifications as well!

  • Cases Available

I don’t like my shiny toys getting broken, that’s why I like getting protective cases for my electronics. It can be a pain researching the best cases, or finding out if cases are even available for your Reader for that matter!

I will be listing whether cases are available for every model.

  • Internal Storage Space

Most of the readers have about 4GB of storage space built in. (Which by itself can hold several libraries of books) However, there are expansions available. A good example would be the Kindle Oasis which can have up to a whopping 32GB of storage space added to it!

  • Warranty

For the most part, Amazon is very good about providing solid customer service and lengthy warranties. This gives me confidence in what I’m buying, and creates a stress free experience. I’m sure you will have a similar experience.

All Amazon Kindle Readers come with a 1 year limited warranty upon purchase. You  also have the option to purchase extended warranties, up to 3 years!

  • Price

If you live you life anything like I do, then the price is easily the most important factor you consider when buying online.Amazon Kindle Review

While I sometimes make purchases out of necessity, for the most part price is key when I make my final decision.

There are Kindles that range in the hundreds, and models that are under a hundred dollars. This has made it so much easier for me to pick out my model and not feel the guilt of breaking my budget.

  • Positive Reviews

There are always going to be products online that are full of fluff and stuffing. No matter how many stars an item gets, it is a rip off! But this isn’t the case with Amazon’s rating system.

Because Amazon only shows star ratings from users like you, you will have a far clearer understanding of your purchase. You can have confidence in your purchase!

But let’s be honest, no one likes having to read tons of mixed reviews to make their assessment! That’s why I’ve done this for you and have listed my honest review for each model.

  • Outside Color

All jokes and presumptions aside, you may not want a black Kindle. You may want a white, or more metallic look. While all models come with a default Black or dark color, some come with more customization!

  • WiFi Or Cellular Connection

When I first researched the differences between the Amazon Kindle Readers, I was intrigued to find out their Wi-Fi abilities. Not only can you read digital books, but you can use the internet and utilize many other online features.

Did you know that each model will be lighter or heavier depending on it’s Connectivity abilities? If a model only has Wi-Fi, it is a bit lighter. If a model has Wi-Fi and Cellular connection abilities, it will be slightly heavier.

Though the difference in weight in minor, it is still something to take into consideration.

If you don’t care about hotspot/ cellular connections, then I would recommend just going with the ligher, basic Wi-Fi setup.

  • The Resolution

I doubt many people even consider the quality of their reading when picking a model. But believe it or not, some Amazon Kindle Readers are equipped with better screen resolution for a clearer reading experience.

If you want the most crisp, clean looking resolution for your books, I have listed which models have the best resolution as well!

  • Internal Lighting

Unlike some of the newer Kindles coming out, some models aren’t equipped with internal lighting and are ill equipped for dark settings. If you are night time reader, you will certainly want a model that has this feature built in!

  • Anti-Glare

This is actually one of the most important factors you want to consider when choosing you Reader. Unlike physical books, most Amazon Kindle Readers don’t reflect light off of their screens. With that in mind, it is important to choose a model with this feature present.

  • Parental Controls

Along with purchase control and explicit material blocking, most models now have parental controls built in. These controls allow you to limit and monitor your child’s activities while using their Reader.

This can be important if you allow WiFi access for your children or if you store materials on your device that aren’t suited for their age group.

  • Kindle Weight

The downside to some of the larger models, is that they do weigh a little more, but may have larger screens. Some of the smaller models also weigh less but sacrifice a wider screen for portability.

Knowing how much a model weighs is important if you intend to hold it for long periods of time as well!

  • Battery Life

I don’t know anyone who likes having to recharge their devices in the middle of use. Personally, I despise any device that has a short battery life, and will pay more money for something if it means longer usage.

I have included estimated battery life for each model for your convenience!

  • Waterproofing

This is one of the coolest features to ever be added to a Reader model. Now you can read your favorite books on one device, while in the water! That’s right, you can read without the fear of getting anything wet. I love this feature.

If this is something you really want, be sure to check out the Kindle Oasis below!

Features With Every Model

Please note that there are so many features that are automatically included with every reader that I will not be listing them under the pros or cons.

The following are features included with all Amazon Kindle Readers:

  • Bookmarking
  • Language Translation
  • Exporting
  • Instructional Programs To Help Children Learn
  • Document Emailing
  • Collections You Can Create With Your Existing Library.

It should also be noted that all the kindles are being listed with the “Special offers” being included. If this is something that you don’t want, you can choose to remove them when purchasing, though it may cost a bit extra.

Also, be sure to read until the end as I will be listing my favorite pick and the reasons why I think it is the best.

With that, lets get right into it…

An improvement over the Kindle Paperwhite, the “Voyage” sports a super-thin design, and better internal lighting.Amazon Kindle Readers

What I like about this is it’s portability, and upgraded features like Page Press.

Personally, I tend to agree with most of the reviews (mostly positive) which say that the Paperwhite tends to be fairly sufficient for most readers needs and gives them an excuse not to buy this model.

However, as others have stated, if you are shopping and have the cash, this is a great buy, and will no doubt serve as an excellent upgrade upon previous models.

Average Amazon Customer Rating

Despite some of the models not having as high of a rating, Amazon’s E-book/Kindle readers have a great average rating between them. I highly recommend picking up one of these amazing readers if you want a portable library at your fingertips!

Why You Need A Kindle Reader

I love acquiring new books and love the sensation of turning a page. The soft yet abrasive quality of a book page elicits my attention along with admiration.

Yet, I run out of book space very quickly! I know this will change in time as I get more bookshelves or holders, but the idea of storing hundreds if not thousands of books without taking an inch of physical space is amazing to me!

That’s why I chose to write this review, because I feel this is a big part of our future going forward. E-readers, and internet storage has advanced in unparalleled measures. It saves time and living space!

  1. Hi Jacob,
    Thanks for your review.
I’m like you I just love books – tell me about a good book and I’m out to get it! lol
The thing is I’m now running out of space too. My book collection is now becoming my carpet so I’m glad I came across your review.

I was recently looking at the KOBO ebook reader from WHSmith however, what put me off, was that it is very restrictive in that I will not be able to download books from Amazon, unlike the Kindle.

I’ve seen the Kindle but found it difficult to choose which one to settle for.
    Your review has helped me.
The Kindle Paperwhite E-reader – Black, 6″ High-Resolution Display (300 ppi) with Built-in Light, Wi-Fi looks great and I think I will purchase this one.

    Thanks for helping me out.

    • No problem, Jackie! Glad my review helped you.

Yep, book space can be prohibitive to how many books we can have, but a kindle reader really helps in that respect! One of my favorite features on the Paperwhite specifically is it’s internal lighting.

The original model didn’t come with this. I also like the pricepoint on the Kindle Paperwhite because it isn’t much more than the basic model and has a lot of options for customization. Reading my financial books has become so much more convenient thanks to my Kindle.

Let me know how you like your Reader!

  2. Hey man,

    Great article.

I’m old-fashioned in the sense that I need a physical copy of a book…i’ve used ibooks, and kindle on my iphone, but I struggle to read and complete books on there.

Then again that may be because of the screen size…i’ve never really considered a kindle on its own before, until now.

Some good information, so I might just check them out.
