Financial Accounting Books: Top 4 Books For Business And Management Anyone Can Use

The topic of financial accounting is rarely discussed. The numbers, difficult concepts and frustrating details can become a hassle. At least without a means to handle them. That’s why I’ve created an in-depth review of the top 4 financial accounting books for business and management!

In this article, I will be giving you clear details on why the following books are by far some of the best on the market.

They are the most in-depth or helpful books in the field of financial accounting today.

Also, be sure to check out my favorite money management software. It has helped me get out of all debt and effectively use my money for financial growth! <==

I have covered many books, but I feel this review covers a financial realm rarely touched because. Mostly because it isn’t on a flashy topic like mindset or motivation.

The numbers matter in business. Getting relevant review for books that could literally make or break your business are important to me.

I know they are important for you too!

Here are a few of the main points I include with every book listed in this review:

Its Average Customer Star Rating

This is a critical piece of information. If people have purchased this product, getting someone else’s opinion or experience with it provides me with confidence that I’m making a good choice.Financial Accounting Books - Price vs. Pages

I have made it a policy to avoid items with lower ratings in general.  Yet star ratings may change so please see Amazon’s up to date listing of every item for the most recent profile included.

Price Vs. Page Count

It’s important to get what you pay for. While people may always assume that a ratio exists in regards to how much it costs for 200 pages vs. 700 pages, this simply isn’t true.

Some of the books I have listed below that are over 700 pages cost little more than their shorter counterparts. Thus, seeing price vs. page count may be a very big eye-opener for you!

Author’s Background

Information like this can make a huge difference when comparing similar books. Especially when the titles included are incredibly appealing or motivating.

Do not be deceived! Having an accomplished, successful author write a book makes a huge difference.  Especially when compared to someone who merely understands the “theory” behind what they are writing about.

Primary Topics

Many books listed on Amazon may or may not actually be related to the category or search term you entered. Without paying attention to the details, it is very easy to assume that a book will meet your needs. Only on the basis that Amazon pulled it up for you, however. Not because it is actually what you need.Financial Accounting Books - Accounting Book

Let me be the breaker of bad news, this happens a lot, and not just with books.

Hopefully the “Primary Topics” subheading listed with every book will provide clarity as to what kind of book you are purchasing.

Publish Date

No one wants someone doing their taxes when they haven’t reviewed the up-to-date tax laws. The same applies to books you are seeking for financial education.

Some books never become outdated or outmoded. Yet I am a firm advocate that recent books are always better in the long wrong.

There are underlying principles that govern the topic of financial accounting.  But I truly believe every author provides something that no one else has ever thought of. That’s why a fresh, recently published book can make a huge difference!

Hi Jacob, and thanks for writing this post!

You’re right, this topic is rarely discussed. I’m an accountant myself, though retired now, and this type of information can be used by many people. It’s not only the large companies that use this information. Those of us with small businesses need to know as well.

The general knowledge about financing is pretty universal, but when it comes to the finer details, your readers need to consider what country they live in. Some advice might be just for the USA, for instance.

These are great suggestions you have here, and I’m sure all are very useful for different aspects of financial accounting. The tips you gave for finding the proper book online are spot on! Thanks for that.

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

Hey, Suzanne, glad you liked the post. I understand where you are coming from completely. There are many people and businesses that can profit from these kinds of books, and not just mega-corporations. I think “The Basics of Understanding Financial Statements” will prove very helpful for the average person or small business owner especially.

    Hi Jacob,

I love how detailed your review is.

I have a friend who invests in the stock market and I have actually been looking for a Christmas gift for him. It looks like I am going to have to buy: “The Basics of Understanding Financial Statements” as it seems the perfect book for him 🙂

Thank you again for such thorough post!

This post is great – and a good reminder that small businesses / bloggers should be informed and aware of basic accounting principles. Just reading through the book titles took me back – I was a Finance major in college and a MBA student so it brings me back :). I even think a refresher on these books would be good for me, as someone who hasn’t worked in this area in a while.

    Thanks,
    Christen

    Hi Jacob
Thanks for sharing your views on financial accounting books. What I like most about your post that you have not just reviewed the best available books on the subject, you have given the best advice on selecting the right book. The advice holds good not only for finance books but any book. Many writers nowadays have started publishing ebooks with attractive titles and once you have purchased them, you will find that they are useless. I am not against new writers as they probably have update information but checking star rating and knowing others opinion will save time and money.
I have also seen the comment left by Suzanne and like to disagree with her a bit. This is an era of the global market and people love to read the books written by acclaimed international writers. FInance strategy and managerial skills is something different from taxation policies as they may be country specific.
    Regards
    Arun

Well said, Arun! There are many books out there today which really are bogus. I think you are also right when you say that there are many resources that may be country specific, and not everything is universal. I think there are some things that carry wherever you go however. Secrets of the Millionaire Mind by T. Harv Eker is the first to come to mind. His book has sold internationally and it remains a best seller.
