This book is about human habit in every area of life, and how that affects our financial success as well. What makes this book so valuable and popular, is it’s incite on how to root out bad habits once they are discovered. The Power Of Habit review was created to show you what you can expect from this book and why you need it.
I have spoken about seeking help with changing habits and getting a life makeover coach before, but I haven’t actually seen a book that deals specifically with habits like Charles does.

Who Is Charles Duhigg?
Charles Duhigg as an absolute wonder to me. This guy became fascinated with habits while in Baghad as a reporter. For full information about Charles and a Q&A where he talks about his extensive background in habits and personal development, Click Here.
This guy has won numerous awards for his research and journalism (The Pulitzer Prize to name one), which has led to him creating some terrific books.
The thing that stands out the most for me is the experience that he has. He has worked as a reporter for the NY Times for years and has covered important subjects through the years.
I also believe he is secretly related to Samwise Gamgee from Lord of the Rings… Seriously, the resemblance is uncanny when he doesn’t have a beard! 😀
In all seriousness, I believe he is a very reputable author and one I am now following.
PRO #1: Habitual Improvements With Proven Research
The book advocates that virtually everything is the direct result of our habits. If we want to change our weight, be more successful, and do more in our lives, we must first change our habits.
This book goes into great detail exactly how to change our habits, and talks about why we pick up the habits we do.
The author is very learned and his incite into habits is extensive. People have said this book was absolutely amazing to read and they thought the author provided sound advice.
Charles helps the reader get to the root of every negative habit by introspection and easy to apply strategy.
PRO #2: Personable Writing with Afterword
Charles recounts his own experience and how he came to the conclusions about lifestyle years ago. He goes in-depth on how changing habits has helped him extensively.
He also includes a new Afterword in the book, and there are now several versions of this book you can buy.
I like Charles style in this book, easy to understand and a lot of experience backing what he is talking about, it reminds me of Robert Kiyosaki’s books actually.
PRO #3: New York Times Best Seller and is currently the 12th most read book on Amazon.
This book has amazing reviews and has touched the lives of thousands. This book was published in 2014, but it remains an absolute must for anyone looking to change they are habits for greater success!
I find it amazing that after 4 years, this book remains on Amazon’s most read! That in it of itself should attest to the value in this book.
The Not So Good
CON #1: Some people said this book is amazing for the first half, then loses a bit of credibility as Charles makes claims that don’t exactly make sense. Some thought the later portions of this book were more “filler” like and didn’t contain as much incite as they were expecting.
CON #2: Some people said they were expecting greater “how-to” strategies and got a basic book. They thought everything in the book could be summed up with very little effort and were disappointed in the value of the book.
*Note: I’m not exactly sure what people were expecting when they say they thought it was basic. They also said that much of what Charles talks about can be summed up to save money, well… so can just about everything in academic education, that doesn’t mean we should.
Who Will Benefit From This Book? Are There Testimonials?
There are some great testimonials online, with most people rating this book 4-5 stars on Amazon:
Very few negative reviews, acclaimed by many, I think this is definitely a book everyone should read at least once.
Personally, I think anyone can benefit from a book like this, but I do believe that the ideas in this book have been taken for granted by some. This isn’t rocket science, and a lot of information within the area of “Personal Development”, and in most subjects in life, are not inherently difficult to understand.
Average Customer Rating
This book has become a smash-hit in bookstores online. It is a perfect read for anyone looking for an in-depth take on the psychology of habits. I know for a fact that many people improved their lives with this book, and I wholeheartedly believe this book can do the same for you!
It’s the practice of what we learn that will determine who we become. If you think about it, changing habits is as simple as doing something instead of something else, repeatedly. The difficulty is stopping something when we are in a “habit” of doing it.
That’s where I think this book will help you, not for it’s solutions, but for it’s direct line of contact to your soul. By reading this book, I believe you will come away with more than how to break a habit, but the will to do so.
If you are like me, the idea of changing lifestyles is a difficult one to accomplish because it is like turning yourself around. You are in a tide pushing yourself with the same will power that is pushing you the opposite direction. Sometimes, that can be exhausting.
Getting to the root cause of these problems is where this book shines. Charles talks about how he would eat a cookie after work every day, but realized that he was really just wanting an excuse to socialize with his co-workers. (He hasn’t claimed it, but he is obviously an extrovert like me.
