What Is the Power Of Now? The Hidden Secret Recipe For Success Your Parents Never Told You

What is the power of now? Some people don’t realize how powerful living in the moment can really be, and that is why today I will be presenting what I believe to be the secret link to success so many people are missing in their lives today.

There is a saying dating as far back as 1562, “There’s no time like the present”. This old proverb has become so common among motivational speakers and teachers that it remains a primary focus in nearly every training we undergo. What Is The Power Of Now? - Start Board Game

Regardless of it’s form or how it’s said, the focus of training is usually to improve our lives now, not later. The problem I see today, however, is that people think one thing and do another.

I’ve met people who imagine that they are going to have a great future, but when you ask them what they are doing to prepare for the future, their answers are both surprising and sad.

I want to help those of you who want to see immediate change in your life to start improving one step at a time.

I have included some very easy steps at the end of this article that I think will make a big difference for you as well!

What Is The Power Of Now? Is “Now” Even A Thing?

“Now”, is a word meaning the present, current, or this moment. When people want something done, they say “Do this Now”. It is an indication of both urgency and desire.

When I want something, usually I want it this very moment and don’t want to wait, I desire something now. However, my desire for something usually doesn’t actually give me what I want.

Why Does “Now” Even Matter? What Kind of Power Does It Have?

By applying the power of “now”, we can begin making needing improvements in our life. Without changing the present, the future will look the same.

I think people are aware that to make improvements to their life, they need to change their life today, but I really don’t think people take into account how little actions add up.

If you are like me, you see the tangible, the immediately noticeable, and the most prominent things more quickly than the obscure or unseen. People want a six-pack, but most would rather have a six-pack of bear now, rather than reap the rewards of dieting.

People like immediate gratification, but generally aren’t willing to do what is necessary to secure what they desire permanently. A good example of this is to enjoy skiing in the mountains, but not having the passive income to support you doing it regularly.

It’s one thing to go skiing after your paycheck, it’s another to go skiing whenever you want because you are financially free. Enormous difference, and it all started by taking action, Now.

Why Wasn’t I Told About This Before?

Uh, because schools don’t teach people to be financially successful or to become leaders in life, they are designed to make workers and soldiers. Robert Kiyosaki wrote an amazing book called “Rich Dad Poor Dad” that talks about this very subject and on how to get our of the rat race.

To take action “now”, takes discipline and a very organized schedule. The reason people rarely miss work each week is that they have a schedule set for when they are going to work and are very motivated. If not for the money, but for the fear of being fired.

That’s me anyway. I am definitely more motivated by the negative than the positive.

The reason the secrets to success aren’t common knowledge is that people don’t like them! No one likes working on a business or investing for hours after a 9-5!

Is This Guaranteed To Bring Success?

Nike has a famous slogan, “Just Do It”. This is both profound and hilarious for a shoe company. (Seriously, a shoe company came up with this!?)

I’m sure you have heard it before, “80% of success is showing up”. (Or is it 90%? Shoot, this saying has been quoted so many times through the years it is often misquoted.)

I tend to underestimate how much my small daily actions will add up in the future. A good example of this is when I am able to encourage someone or offer advice. Many times, I have no idea how impactful what I just said really was.

Another example is when I spend time reading a book for financial success. I usually don’t realize it’s value until I actually need it or apply it, but it’s worth is there long before application.

I define success. However, if you are taking intelligent and persistent action in life, day by day, you will succeed eventually. If you don’t succeed, you learn, and learning something is one of life’s greatest moments.

What I Am Using To Utilize The Power Of “Now”, How You Can Start Generating Incredible Results “Now”!

I can think of quite a few ways to use the power of “Now” today:What Is The Power Of Now? - Woman On Laptop On Desk

  • Be always learning! As my coach will say from Life Makeover Coaching, “The Rich Never Stop Learning, The Poor Think They Already Know”.
I have also written numerous reviews on amazing financial success books that are guaranteed to help you accomplish your goals in life!

  • Create goals for each day, write down what you want to accomplish and write down what you completed each day.

  • Have a day planner, not a calendar. Calendars are reminders, not a means to track and manage your day. Tracking what and when to do something is incredibly powerful, and frankly, my day would be wreck without one. (I use Google Calendar, free and easy to use)

  • Don’t procrastinate, schedule. If you need to do something, make time for it, don’t put it off.
There is no tomorrow, there is only today. I make a difference now, not later.

  • Be in the moment. Have a consciousness about what you are doing and how you are doing it. Life isn’t about action, it’s about quality. I can show up to work, but do a terrible job, defeating the purpose of even showing up.
    Doing meaningful actions is key.

In Conclusion

As you can see, there are many ways to start improving your life this very moment.

The question is, will we take action, or ignore the power of now? What is the power of now? It’s the power of action!

I hope you will take action, there have been so many opportunities in my life that I’ve missed before only because I didn’t know what I was looking at. I missed an opportunity because I didn’t realize how it would impact my life.

“The reason the secrets to success aren’t common knowledge is that people don’t like them! No one likes working on a business or investing for hours after a 9-5!” That quote made me literally laugh out loud. I couldn’t agree more with that. And you are right about people not being taught in school how to be financially successful. We are taught to go to college and become a teacher, or a firefighter. It’s always been work and study hard so that you can work even more later to survive. I enjoyed reading your post. Thanks for reminding me about MY now!

Heh, well the truth can be comical sometimes! I know it has been in my life. Making the time for what is important now has been instrumental in my personal growth. I credit a lot of what I’ve learned to my family and Life Makeover Coaches. Always great to read a comment like yours! 😀

Most people don’t realize the importance of taking action NOW. And you are absolutely right about the schools not teaching how to be financially free. I have met some young entrepreneurs that are making a lot of money with different methods like Affiliate Marketing and e-commerce, and the one thing that they have in common is that they took action. They studied the hows and then they implemented them. It would be great if schools could teach things like these.

It’s one of life’s greatest tragedies and also one of life’s greatest opportunities. The ability to help others gain the knowledge they weren’t given traditionally is very rewarding!

I guess this article is a bit of an overstatement of the obvious, but sometimes I wonder if my own emotions trump sound logic. It’s like I remember to take action daily, but I don’t because I don’t see the immediate results.

  • May 18, 2018 at 6:51 pm

I love the way you make the readers THINK! I definitely agree with your NOW philosophy. I will also admit that sometimes I forget that nothing will happen NOW or LATER if I don’t TAKE ACTION. Thanks for this reminder, I’m going to get to work right now. So that I can benefit from that work later on.

All too true, Emonne! Taking action now if key in our lives regardless what it is we work on. I know that my taking action in building a business will equate to long term success very soon.

Hi Jacob, Love your post! Taking action, any action, now! is probably the best piece of advice you can give anyone. Not to worry about future failure or even future success, just take action, now. You are spot on with your message and I like that you touched on the modern slave trade that is our global education and work system. You rock! Cheers, Angie 🙂

    • May 19, 2018 at 11:37 am

It’s funny, I have been working at a job for years, but I’ve never felt like a slave. Granted there were times I hated my job, but I’ve always done my best to view whatever 9-5 I take as a means to achieve financial freedom. The money I got from each job has helped me invest, build my business, and enroll in Life Makeover Coaching. All of theses things have helped me grow financially! I think it has to do with people’s mindset and what they get a job for.

Hi, I agree the “now” is the most important and best time in life.

We should all learn to live more in the now instead of after, next week or in future.

I also believe learning makes people stand out. I like the quote, The Rich Never Stop Learning, The Poor Think They Already Know.

I love learning something new every day and am proudly saying I still have a lot to learn 🙂

If we want to achieve something in life it’s not enough to do what our boss says, we have to do a little more every day.

    • May 19, 2018 at 11:39 am

I don’t think there will ever be a time in my life when I don’t need to learn anything more. Ignorance is easily more prevalent than knowledge in life. It is a sad truth that a job will not bring financial freedom, but they can be used to fuel our efforts for financial success!
      Thanks for the comment!

Most people, in general, are lazy and are not prepared to put in the time and quite happy with just plodding through life.

The slave trade wasn’t abolished, it was just re-packaged, and something I have never been able to accept.

Life, in general, is such a simple concept but we choose to complicate things. There are only ever 2 options when it comes to the path we decide to go down. It couldn’t be any simpler! “Now or then”, “Yes or No” “success or failure”

    Great post, thanks

    • May 19, 2018 at 11:42 am

Heck, I know I’m lazy, taking action now and not later can be really tough when all I want to do is goof off! The lack of success in life for many people is actually more tied to their maturity than their knowledge. People know that there are many ways to get financially free, but they don’t explore them because they don’t believe they can do it, or worse, they think it’s all a scam! Great comment.

  • May 19, 2018 at 6:05 pm

    Hey Jacob,

I think a lot of people tell people their future is going to be great, but few people actually take the necessary steps to get to where they want to be.

In terms of instant gratification, I do agree with that. Here is a good example. Take the weight loss industry; everyone wants that magic pill that is going to make them lose weight.

How come you think you are more motivated by the negative instead of the positive though? Is it fear of failure? I know a lot of people’s brain do work that way.

I have had problems with procrastination in the past, though. I really believe that just setting a schedule and making a list and make sure you hold yourself accountable.

    • May 21, 2018 at 4:17 pm

For me, I think being motivated by what I don’t want is what has often been the driving force in my life. Not wanting to wind up broke, homeless, of ill report in society, and not wanting to jeopardize my faith have been more motivating than doing something thinking about the reward.

You are spot on when you say people don’t usually do what they need to move forward financially. People need help like I’ve needed help, that’s why I enrolled in Life Makeover Coaching, it has helped a bunch.

    Hy Jacob,

If we had learn the information you shared here today in school, our world would be a better place. Is not until you step out of the 9-5 world that you realized you were in a hamster wheel for so many years. It’s good to be in the present moment to enjoy it to the fullest, but also that doesn’t stop anyone from having goals and preparing on how to achieve those goals. Thanks for this great article, can’t wait to read some more. Take care 🙂

    • May 21, 2018 at 4:32 pm

It’s funny, most of the time, I really don’t think what I’m talking about is all that helpful. I take what I’ve learned for granted sometimes. I’m glad that this information was helpful for you! I do my best to provide quality articles for my readers like you 🙂

I’ve also reviewed some really great books on financial freedom and personal development, I highly recommend you check those out. Many of them have helped me tremendously!
